Dallas : PC Matthew, Current Senior Citizen Commissioner of Garland District 3, has announced that he will run for the mayoral position in the upcoming 2025 municipal elections. In 2021, Matthew was a runoff candidate for District 3 in Garland, where he finished second among four candidates. He ran again in 2023 and gained more votes. Since then, he has been working closely with the current council member in various areas in Garland. Matthew stated that he is contesting for mayor because the current District 3 council member informed him that he will be running for re-election.
Having contested three times and worked in various sectors within the Garland community, Mathew has earned recognition among the people. He met a lot of citizens and learned the issues facing them. He has maintained a good relationship with both the mayor and other council members. Mathew has also played an active role in inviting distinguished city officials, including the mayor, to various Indian events in the area.
Mathew has been present in Garland since 2014 when he purchased his first investment property. Mathew has twice served as the president of the Irving Emerald Valley Homeowners Association and has carried out effective initiatives. He was recently re-elected as a board member of the Shores of Wellington community in Garland and unanimously elected as its president. He also serves as the vice president of the Rustic Oaks community. With the cooperation of other board members, the HOA President, he was able to secure a city grant of over $100,000 for the beautification of a large pond in Rustic Oaks community.
Since 2005, Mathew has been an active figure in Dallas’s social scene. Began conducting blood donation drives with the participation of Carter Blood, and continued his dedicated services. He served as the America Region President and Global Vice President of the Malayali/Indian Network Association, earning the admiration of the community. Known for organizing events of Indian Diaspora every year without fail, he has tirelessly worked to help farmers, students, talented children, and the underprivileged. The Dallas community recognizes his dedicated efforts, and he was honored with a plaque from Asianet USA in Dallas several years ago for his community service. Additionally, Mayor Scott Lemay presented him with an Appreciation Award for his service on the Garland Environmental Board during the Board and Commissions meeting held in Garland.
Mathew graduated from the Leadership Garland program, a comprehensive leadership course organized annually by the Garland Chamber of Commerce, where he associated with American youth leaders, including the Garland City Mayor and councilmembers. Through this program, he learned to collaborate with departments like the Garland Police and Fire Departments, etc.
While a student, Mathew was elected to the Kerala University Union three times and served as a Senate member of Mahatma University. He also served as a board member of the Indian School in Bahrain during 2000-2003, and was the Chairman of Sports subcommittee. He along with reputed leaders, founded the Global Indian Council (GIC), a network for Indians, and has led various charity initiatives through this organization. Recently, GIC donated goats and shelters to a family in Attappady, Kerala, India who had lost eight goats.
Mathew, a humble and passionate leader also serves as an Usher/volunteer in the New Testament Church in Dallas. Mathew expressed confidence in his ability to work with determination to serve with unconditional love. He also requested the support of all his friends in Dallas.
