In a remarkable testimony of faith, discipline, and God’s grace, Chinnamma George (Age 83) once again won First Prize in the Memory Verse Written Competition, proving that age is no barrier when God’s Word is written on the heart.
The competition, organized by Christ Assembly of God, challenged participants to write Bible memory verses accurately within one hour, including the correct references (where it is). Chinnamma George astonished everyone by writing 186 Bible verses, securing First Prize for the third consecutive year.
The award was presented during the Church Anniversary Celebration on December 13. She received a trophy and special recognition from Senior Pastor Rev. George P. Chacko, who also honored her with a Bible, personalized with her name.
The Second Prize was awarded to Lizzy Eapen, and the Third Prize to Susamma Roy.
During her response after receiving the trophy, Chinnamma George humbly testified that this achievement was only by God’s grace, giving all glory to Him. With her characteristic sense of humor and confidence of faith, she lovingly told Pastor George P. Chacko that she was “reserving him to give her this prize for another ten years.” The moment brought smiles and inspiration to the entire congregation.
Chinnamma George is the widow of Late Rev. Dr. K. M. George and the beloved mother of Tom George, Abraham, Mariamma, Anna, and Elizabeth. She is richly blessed with 22 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. To them, she is not just an elderly grandmother, but a living example of eight decades of wisdom, faith, discipline, and love.
Her legacy lives on through generations. She taught her grandchildren Malayalam, and today they proudly speak with her in their mother tongue. Many of them still remember the Bible verses and even the table of contents from Genesis – Revelation that she taught them years ago. Through her life and teaching, she has preserved and passed on Indian values and culture. Truly, the reflection of grandparents is seen in the lives of their children and grandchildren.
Every day, as children or grandchildren leave saying “bye,” she places her hands on them, prays, and blesses them. Loving yet firm, gentle yet disciplined, she has always believed in raising children with prayer and order. She consistently blesses them with Isaiah 45:2, and before important business meetings or major decisions, her children seek their mother’s prayers and blessings.
Though she had to go through many hardships in life, including the loss of loved ones, her faith in God remained unshaken, anchored in the blessed hope of meeting them again on the other shore. Her tears, offered in prayer, have never gone unanswered.
Known for her warm nature and sharp sense of humor, Chinnamma is also an excellent cook—adding her special touch to take any dish “to the next level.” She remains very active in the Prayer Line, leading multiple sessions each week, and is a committed member of W4C (Women for Christ), where she actively coordinates family and fellowship gatherings. She is now taking the next step by seeking to register with the National Bible Bee organization. Even at this age, she is remarkably active on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and email.
Her joy is found in togetherness. When she once heard of an approaching storm and a state of emergency, her first response was simple and joyful: “Let everyone come to one home. Let’s cook, sing, pray, and sleep together in the living room.” That moment of family unity brought her immense happiness.
In times like these, we are reminded of the importance of praying parents. Tears shed in prayer for one’s family are never in vain.
May the Lord Jesus Christ continue to strengthen her memory, health, and spirit, and bless her with many more victorious years—for His glory and for generations to come. Her email address is [email protected]
