ആലപ്പുഴ: മുൻ പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവും ഹരിപ്പാട് എംഎൽഎയും നിലവിൽ യുഡിഎഫ് സ്ഥാനാർത്ഥിയും ആയ രമേശ് ചെന്നിത്തലയെ അധിക്ഷേപിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ബിജെപി സ്ഥാനാർത്ഥിക്ക് വേണ്ടി പുറത്തിറക്കിയ എഐ വീഡിയോയ്ക്ക് എതിരെ ചെന്നിത്തലയുടെ ഇലക്ഷൻ കമ്മിറ്റി ചെയർമാൻ അനിൽ ബി കളത്തിൽ സംസ്ഥാന തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് കമ്മീഷന് പരാതി നൽകി.

മതവികാരത്തെ ദുരുപയോഗപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന തരത്തിലുള്ള സ്റ്റേറ്റ്മെന്റുകൾ ചേർത്ത ഈ വീഡിയോ രമേശ് ചെന്നിത്തലയുടെയും എതിർ ബിജെപി സ്ഥാനാർത്ഥിയുടെയും എ ഐ വീഡിയോ ദൃശ്യങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.

ഇത് ഫേസ്ബുക്ക് ഇൻസ്റ്റഗ്രാം വാട്സ്ആപ്പ് യൂട്യൂബ് തുടങ്ങി എല്ലാ സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയ പ്ലാറ്റ്ഫോമുകളിലൂടെയും വൻതോതിൽ ബിജെപി കേന്ദ്രങ്ങൾ പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുകയാണ്.

ഇത് ഉടൻതന്നെ സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയ പ്ലാറ്റ്ഫോമുകളിൽ നിന്ന് നീക്കം ചെയ്യാൻ സൈബർ സെൽ അധികൃതർക്ക് നിർദ്ദേശം നൽകണമെന്നും വർഗീയ ചേരിതിരിവും കലാപവുംസൃഷ്ടിക്കാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചതിനും ഒപ്പം അപകീർത്തിക്കും കേസെടുക്കണമെന്നും തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് പ്രക്രിയയെ മലിനപ്പെടുത്താൻ ശ്രമിച്ചതിന് എതിർ സ്ഥാനാർത്ഥിക്ക് എതിരെ നോട്ടീസ് നൽകി വേണ്ട നടപടികൾ സ്വീകരിക്കണമെന്നും പരാതിയിൽ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.

Congress Moves EC Against BJP Over ‘Deepfake’ Campaign Video in Haripad

Haripad, April 6: The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has approached the Election Commission (EC) with a formal complaint alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is circulating a “malicious” AI-generated deepfake video targeting its candidate in the Haripad Assembly constituency, in what it described as a serious attempt to vitiate the electoral atmosphere ahead of the Kerala Assembly polls.

In a complaint submitted by UDF Election Committee Chairman Anil B. Kalathil, the front alleged that the BJP’s campaign machinery has been widely disseminating a fabricated video through social media platforms, including WhatsApp and Facebook. According to the complaint, the video has been created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to falsely attribute communally sensitive statements to the UDF candidate, with the intent of triggering religious polarization and disturbing public harmony in the constituency.

Calling the development “serious and unprecedented,” the UDF urged the Election Commission to intervene urgently to safeguard the integrity of the election process. It stressed that the circulation of manipulated content represents a direct attempt to mislead voters and influence public opinion through orchestrated disinformation.

The complaint further called on the EC to direct cyber cell authorities and social media platforms to immediately identify, remove, and block the spread of the alleged deepfake video. It also sought directions to the police to register a criminal case against those responsible for creating and sharing the content, citing concerns of defamation and attempts to incite communal tension.

Additionally, the UDF demanded that the Commission issue notice to the BJP and initiate appropriate penal action against the party and its candidate, terming the alleged act a “corrupt electoral practice.” As part of its submission, the front has provided copies of the video and related links, including material purportedly sourced from the opposing candidate’s social media accounts, for the Commission’s scrutiny.

The complaint concludes by urging the Election Commission to take “stern and exemplary action,” warning that the use of deepfake technology in election campaigning poses a grave threat to free and fair polls. It also described the incident as “unprecedented in Kerala’s electoral history,” accusing the BJP of attempting to subvert democratic choice through digital manipulation and deceptive propaganda.
