The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) has officially opened registration for its highly anticipated 2026 Annual Convention & Scientific Assembly, set to take place July 2–5, 2026, in Tampa, Florida. AAPI President Dr. Amit Chakrabarty, stated, “The 2026 convention with the theme, ‘Stronger Together: United in Care, Undivided in Care,’ signals the beginning of what is expected to be one of the most significant gatherings in the organization’s four‑decade history.”

A Convention Designed to Inspire

In his message to members, Dr. Chakrabarty described the Tampa convention as “the crowning jewel of everything we’ve built together,” emphasizing that “the event will blend scientific excellence, cultural celebration, and national pride. The timing is especially meaningful: the convention coincides with the 250th anniversary of America’s independence, and AAPI has partnered with the City of Tampa to mark the milestone with a red‑carpet civic reception honoring the Indian‑American physician community.”

Cutting‑Edge CME and Scientific Innovation

“Physicians and healthcare professionals from across the country and internationally will convene to participate in the scholarly exchange of medical advances, develop health policy agendas, and encourage legislative priorities for the coming year,” said Dr. Meher Medavaram, President-Elect of AAPI. “We look forward to welcoming everyone to Tampa in 2026 for a truly unforgettable event.”

The 2026 Scientific Assembly promises a robust slate of CME sessions curated by world‑class faculty, offering physicians the latest advancements in clinical practice, research, and emerging technologies. Dr. Krishen Kumar, Vice President of AAPI notes that “the CMEs at the convention are designed to elevate your practice and ignite your curiosity, reflecting the organization’s commitment to lifelong learning and medical excellence.”

Culture, Cuisine, and Celebration

Beyond the academic program, attendees can expect:

·         Global culinary experiences crafted to bring together flavors from across India and the world

·         High‑energy entertainment and cultural showcases

·         Family‑friendly events set against Tampa’s waterfront beauty

The convention aims to create an immersive environment where professional development meets community celebration.

“In order to put together vibrant entertainments, authentic Indian cuisine, and sessions by renowned yoga experts, we have convened a great group of leaders of AAPICON Tampa 2026 to meet the needs of the Convention and are very excited about this year,” said Dr. Seema Arora, Secretary of AAPI. “Please reach out to any one of the representatives from the Tampa Convention team with questions or comments.”

“The AAPI Convention features a dedicated full-day program for young physicians and medical students, complemented by academic sessions, achievement recognition, and dynamic networking through alumni gatherings and evening social events,” added Dr. Soumya Neravetla, Treasurer of AAPI.

AAPI’s Vision of Unity Takes Center Stage

The convention announcement arrives on the heels of a high‑energy session of the AAPI Shared Vision Taskforce, where leaders from across the country reaffirmed their commitment to unity, collaboration, and organizational strength. Dr. Chakrabarty emphasized that AAPI’s mandate is “to unify, not to divide,” adding that the organization “stands as a testament to what we can achieve when we move toward a singular goal.”

Dr. Sagar Galwankar, Chair of AAPI Convention 2026 said, “The engagement of our community, partners, and leadership highlights the unity and dedication that will make this convention remarkable. We are not just planning an assembly—we are creating a celebration of unity, expertise, and cultural heritage here in Tampa.”
